Pre-Surgery Process

If your physician determines a surgical procedure is indicated, your physician’s office will contact CCH Scheduling/Pre-op Office to schedule your procedure.  Insurance verification will be performed by your physician’s office prior to your surgery.

Once your surgery is scheduled please present 7 days prior to your scheduled surgery date to pre-register.  Important information to bring during this visit includes your medication list, allergies, and past surgical history.

Your surgeon may have ordered preoperative testing such as lab work, x-rays, and EKG to be performed and that will be completed during your Pre-Surgery appointment.  Pre-op testing must occur prior to your scheduled surgery date.

At your Pre-Surgery visit please bring the completed forms given by your physician.  If you have misplaced your forms you may print the Pre-Surgery forms (text version). Please complete them prior to your appointment.  You will also be given the time to arrive at the hospital for your procedure.  If you have any questions regarding your procedure prior to the scheduled surgery date, please call our Pre-Surgery Nurse at 979-493-7582.

Preparing for your Surgery

Medications:  Follow your physician’s orders on medications to take and medications not to take prior to surgery.  If you are instructed by your physician to take medications the day of surgery, these can be normally taken with a sip of water.   Stop all Aspirin products at least 7 days prior to surgery unless otherwise directed. Bring all of your medications in the original bottles if you will be spending the night.

  • Eating/Drinking: Do NOT eat or drink anything after midnight the night before your surgery including water.
  • Clothing: Wear loose fitting clothing to allow for dressings if applicable.
  • Valuables: Please leave all valuables at home or with a loved one. This includes money, jewelry, cell phones.

Day of Surgery

On the day of your scheduled surgery, please arrive at the time provided to you during your Pre-Surgery visit and report to the Surgery Office (Main Lobby, Door 4).  The Pre-Surgery nurse will check you in and escort you and your loved one to the Surgery Waiting Room.  The Intake nurse will call you back when they are ready to begin the surgical preparation process. The physician will visit with your loved one and provide an update once your surgery is complete.

Surgery Discharge Process

You will be required to bring a responsible adult with you on the day of your procedure to drive you home.  Discharge instructions will be reviewed with both you and your loved one prior to discharge.

Expect to receive a phone call from one of our surgery team members.  We want to make sure you are on a great road to recovery and answer any questions you may have.

Important reminders following your surgical procedures:

  • Follow your physician’s discharge instructions.
  • Take medication as directed.
  • Keep your follow-up appointment.
